The backwaters of Trichur consists
of Chettuva
lake, Canoli kanal, ennammave kayal and again kanoli canal which
connects Chettuva, Kadassankadave, Triprayar and Periyar river in kodungaloor.
Despite being a part of national waterway these backwaters are not well
known.
The backwaters shown in this photo is not of Alleppey or
Kollam, this is near Thoyakkave between Chettuva and Kandassan kadave. |

These large
boats can carry 1½ trucks of sand / bricks. These are modified to
one bath attached bedroom, one living room and a deck. The boat is 45
feet length and 7.5 feet wide. This can carry 12 adults + some children.
The houseboat has an option of moving by engine or by man power with
poles by 2 men. |
| The boat moves through
calm, quite and scenic backwaters. The door between the bedroom
and living room can be fully open there by having good breeze at
all times. |
| The trip pass through many
villages near the backwaters. A ferry service across the backwaters, a
Kettuvallam coming from Kandassankadave market, people working on coir,
transporting sands, fishing by different methods. |
| In Enammave kayal, you would find
many fishermen fishing by numerous methods. Catching crabs, prawns,
pearl spotted fish etc. കരിമീന്, കണംമ്പ്,
പ്രായി, നാരന് ചെമ്മീന്, ഞണ്ട് എല്ലാം കായലില് നിന്നു തന്നെ കിട്ടും.

The backwates of Trichur is much
greener and calm than famous Alleppey, which is crowded with tourist
boats. Being the only houseboat in this area, we promise a unique
experience.
The boat can be hired for cruise at evenings
including dinner on board. We serve dinner with
കരിമീന്, കണംമ്പ്, പ്രായി, നാരന് ചെമ്മീന്, ഞണ്ട് prepared by
our own cook just for you, |

hour with out engine (moving with bamboo poles). Subject to a minimum of
2 hours.
Rs 1500 / hour with outboard engine. Subject to a minimum of
2 hours.
Lunch / dinner can be served on board.
